chromoly tubing ?

I have the opportunity of getting chromoly tubing for next to nothing.

Would this be good for building a mini bike frame ?

Pro's and Con's ?

Welding or Tig only ?

Help ??

Whats the OD and how thick is it ? How much can you get ?

Well, I don't have any in my hand.

If I were to guess, 7/8OD X 0.040 thick , just a guess\


How much, enough to build 10 or more bikes would be my guess.
Would still need to buy neck tubing.

Tig is stronger, but you can mig it.

you can gas weld it too. the only thing is to keep from oxidizing the welds, set the acetylene AND the oxygen at 4 to 6 psi....they have been gas welding aircraft airframes for years. the famous Pitts Special aerobatic plane has a gas welded, 4130 frame.
