so my friend who races go peds and builds stupid fast motors that push 12k rpms:doah:, says that he uses copper gaskets which are half as thick as paper one for more compression, anyone ever try this on a clone with success?

Not me but some people have had great success with them.

I just use OEM with some head gasket sealer.
My engines are not, wild reliability suffers too much when you push a clone.

I agree . If you mod to big you could say goodbye to its life.
I think my gasket is thinner than stock but its not cooper . I think a thinner gasket does give more compression. Smaller combustion chamber .

There are 2 factory head gaskets.
A thick one for the 160 and a thin one for the 200.

Both are interchangable.

Add to that Parsons racing has some gaskets ranging for .010 to .018 for special aplication. These are very good gaskets by the way. Special coating makes the reusable

I have a head gasket on a GX120 that I cut from a Diet Dr. Pepper can. The stock gasket was .043" and the pop can is .006". It sealed great with a light coat of copper and has lived for almost 2 years under lots of abuse. The engine runs great with the added compression!
