disk brake install questions

I am trying to figure out how to put a rear disk brake on my latest project. I searched pretty good, and could not find much information as far as 'how to'. The biggest challenge seems to be how to mount a disk on the right side. Any suggestions? Thanks.

How about mounting a caliper on the left and use the sprocket as the disc

I could, but I read some threads where that did not work too well. Can't remember the details, but it would be easier. My sprocket is pretty thick gauge, so I'd have to have a pretty wide caliper opening. Thanks Papa.

I mounted to the sprocket. No problems at all. Brakes work good. My sprocket is 3/16" thick. This caliper works up too a quarter I think.

Caliper is pretty universal. I just made a simple mount where the caliper actually sat on the frame as support too. Looks strange, but works great. Got it off fleabay for 16.00.

Be sure you make the caliper "Float".

it does. it has too with this whacked out sprocket.

The hydraulic setup has a much better feel and more control over lockup!
