Disney Land mini bike KV75

#1
Well i posted a pic from a craiglist ad a while back because i couldnt remember what bike i was looking at. i think in a whopping 30 seconds someone posted the answer of Kawasaki KV75. I am a honda NUT and not a kawi fan at all BUT its a mini bike and its japanese so I knew i should go after it. especially after looking at ebay prices!

So the seller had it listed as kids motor cycle. that was it. no brand no info nothing. after i get a hold of the guy and let him know im interested I get out there ASAP before he looked up what it was and changed his mind. I had already talked him down 100 bucks over the phone, so i just needed to get out there and seal the deal

when i pulled up the bike was out. he said he had it fired but wouldnt stay running. i kicked it over and it sprung to life before it died. well i know it runs! sounded good too.

the guy says yeah its got a place for a battery if you take off the seat, seemed to really want to show me that (even thought i already knew it had a battery) and when i popped the seat off, i noticed a tag with a serial number....

I do my best to keep a straight face and replace the seat without my hands shaking too much. I carefully inquire as to whether he could take any less, because im a cheap bastard... and he mentioned that he had looked it up the night before and seen one for 600. starts to say "well if i had listed it was a kawasaki..."

i quickly put the agreed on amount in his hands before he changed his mind and loaded up the bike. I could barely contain myself but managed not to tell my buddy who was with me what i saw. stopped at a friend's house on the way home and showed him the bike inside my van. he thought it was really cool but thats when i told my riding partner to hop up in there and check out that tag under the seat.

yes folks... that says disney land.

and the tag is legit... wayyy too heavy duty and good looking of a logo to be fake. Also seems to me that the paint job and pin stripes would have been done or paid for by Disney!

there is a LARGE plate in the handlebars that says in BIG stamped letters, PREMIX FUEL ONLY and beneath that stamped amsoil 100:1 and the size of the tag tells me that it was also part of the disney modifications as who would make a tag that big for themselves to remember.... I believe it was some sort of ride!

i cannot imagine kids being set free on minibikes that wasnt on rails, attached to merry go rounds, had some serious training wheels. inspection of the frame and handlebars shows that indeed some welded fitments have removed and smoothed (poorly) over. it looks like a strip of metal has been welded between the handlebars to affix a number plate, and the bike came with no front or rear light. This makes the fold down handlebars un-useable so i may remove that... but otherwise i wish to leave it as original as possible

and thats where i come to you guys.... anyone got ANYTHING on this bike? kv75s being used at disneyland for SOME reason or another? whether ridden by employees or a ride I have to know more about this bike. pictures, old fart personal accounts, anything.

I will take some more pics after i get some of the rust polished and maybe the carb cleaned so i can ride it.

looking forward to this one. i feel like i found a unicorn ahhahaa

Disney Land does parades. Perhaps it was ridden for that purpose. I can't see it being used as anything else, even as part of a Merry-Go-Round of anything of that sort.

yeah my brother and I both came to that same conclusion. Parade bike. i still want to find out more history if i can tho! havent found any pics yet

It most likely was a service use bike. Allowing them to get around behind the scenes and do maintenance. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.....

we considered that, but i really dont think they would pinstripe bikes that service guys would beat around on, and if they had to carry tools? wouldnt work so well...

Your Disneyland connection...after the park closes they use mini-bikes and motorcycles for the maintenance people to get around quickly on. I was an unofficial guest of the head of that group, after the park had closed it turns into a very different place. At that point the bike of choice was a trail 90 (They must have had at least 50 of them), which I rode with my "guide" to get to the far corners quickly to get my incredibly uncommon tour. I don't know what they are using now in that role.

I can agree on carrying tools. A tool belt maybe was all they needed. BUT!!!!! Have you ever seen anything that wasn't dressed up at Disney?

Walt Disney was all about the illusion at the park. Back when he was alive even if there was a slim chance something was gonna be seen by the outside public it would be designed to be part of the theme of the area. I wouldn't be surprised to hear about themed tool belts and tools at one of his parks.

when was this? and were the bikes stock or were they painted up?
100% stock. Time frame, early 90's. Most of them were CT-90's a few were CT-110's. They were equipment and treated as such.

My host pointed at one and said "Do you know how to ride that?" I said I did, (I own one) and we were off.
Almost all of them had a crate on the rack for carting things. If the CT wouldn't work it was a golf car.

This still leads me to believe that they would have used this in a parade since its painted and pinstriped. it doesnt look like it would have a good way to carry tools, and the factory kick stand leans the bike pretty far over, which would make carrying a basket of tools possibly quite tricky. a CT90 or CT110 would make much more sense for techs, and would have also been available at the same time this bike was available.

I really wish i could find someone who worked there during the 70s that could tell me more and or maybe come up with some pics! id kill to see a disney "princess" riding this bike!

I got a bud down in SoCal, has been a Disney employee for years. Let me rattle his cage, see if I can get any more info on this little Kawasaki.

Okay, the cage was rattled. Quite some time ago they were part of a one season parade, there were two of them, as it was recalled. Thus the custom paint.

Other than that not too much was recalled.

what??? im confused.. they were part of a one season parade, as in they were only used one season? there were two of them, two bikes? or two parades?

Is there any way i can talk to your friend? not that i dont trust you or anything, id just love to hear directly from that person, maybe ask a few specific questions that might jog a memory?

Have you thought of contacting Disneyland? They may have info on the mini bike.
im in north carolina. I was told to "come into the park" and wasnt able to get past the first phone receptionist.

i dont believe the current employees have any care as to anything except what is going on directly in front of them.... i imagine its a pretty crazy place so i guess i cant blame them.

I havent started emailing people, but i figured I would have better luck finding someone indirectly that would have worked there, and contacting them personally.
