does my gas tank need a vent?

#1
i was wondering if anyone has had problems involving vapor lock? cuz my stock clone gas tank has such a strong vacum that it will not let the fuel flow into the carb. i can ride until the bowl is empty but then it will just idle. i pulled off the fuel line and it is like holding u thumb over the top of a straw. no gas is draining. i need help thinking what to do.

Your clone gas cap comes apart real easy pull the top of the cap off the metal lower half of the cap and in the very center of the metal lower half of the cap is a black piece of plastic this is your vent You might need to drill a small hole in it and small i mean like needle size small all you need is a couple of screw drivers to seperate the two

Vapor locking is all together different then a non vented fuel tank. I know your question was answered but I thought I would add this. Vapor lock is when the fuel gets to hot before entering the carb and actually vaporizes. FWIW

Yup once i had a lawn mower that wold run great for 15 minutes or so then crap out. After much fiddleing i figured out it was the not venting gas cap. Never had that happen before on anything
