El Tigre Budget Build

#1
I'm moving this from Strictly Vintage to here as I now have this mini in my hands and the work is to begin ! I'm gonna try to just get it together as simply as possible to be a survivor as best I can ( wont be exact but hopefully close )Y'all may recall the the one markus did , well this should bring back memories for him as I'm starting in about the same shape or perhaps a little worse off ? I paid $250 , new Predator on it with new OldMiniBikes under seat header and muffler and new air filter too , also a Brand new Predator in an unopened box ! I'm gonna return the one in the box , approx $107.00 , I sold the one on the bike to my Buddy for $75 w/clutch so I'm $68 dollars in ! Similar fork issues , they are froze but springs are free , someone pulled the top spring cups down and it appears JB welded the crap out of em ?
, also a once welded and broke again foot peg
, some terrible welds on kickstand , however it works
, very interesting sheet metal scrub brake ? I have the correct one in my parts stash ,

Still going here as My pics aren't posting right ?
The chrome is actually pretty decent and I think will clean up nicely , the sebacs are in good shape and work well . I've got an H30 I'm gonna clean up and paint black to put on it for now and May get Kenny to make a modified ( shorter ) ElTigre seat , unless some body has the seat mount:wink::wink:

very cool! Damage is similar heck even your starting budget is about the same as mine, I paid $200 for it but it came with extra set of new wheels/tires, box of nos engine parts, other new odds and ends etc.. Did the same thing, sold off the not needed extras to bring the price down to about nothing

that ended up being a pretty great riding bike for an adult, I really liked it. Have fun with it

Thanks markus , what you think the guy did w/forks ? also the bridge between fork tubes (fender mount ) has clearly been beat on maybe trying to separate forks ?

I dunno, I think the spring cups are supposed to be flush with the bottom plate. I would cut into it right there and see what they actually did. if they broke off the lowers and just welded it back together there that could be ugly if it failed :scared:

Ok , I got this thing tore down completely now and sold the Predator to my Buddy , I cut off the foot pegs as there was no repairing them , gonna go back with new 1" stainless steel and a little longer too ( better for getting a full foot on em around the motor ) , I had to cut off all the B.S. some ding-a-ling welded to the kickstand , the kick stand itself is fine but I will have to make new pieces to weld on the frame , no big deal ! The forks are another bunged up story , with a little help from Markus I think I have a plan to repair them perfectly ,
I'll get some pics up of the rest of the frame too !

Yea budget may be out the window as I'm contemplating a complete re-chrome of the whole pile of parts after I get it all rebuilt ! Gotta see what it'll cost but the more I get into it the more I want it as fine as it can be ??

ok , this build is back on , I plan to have her ready for April 11th , Buckeyes event ! Chrome and whole bike to chopped up to save , I completely made new fork uppers and lowers with a little advise from Markus , I'll have, about $150 in the whole thing after selling the 2 predators that came with it , that's basically paint and a seat from Kenny ! Blasted frame to bare metal , only have to paint now and assemble it !
