Exhuat painting

I use VHT silver to paint my mufflers. Read the instructions on the can! I bake mine first before mounting them. I usually do 3 heat cycles in the gas BBQ, letting it cool each time. Takes a bit of time but bakes a nice finish on, that will last!

Most times, no. If it is far away from the head it might.
Engine paint will not hold up, You need Exhaust / Header paint.
I've used wood stove paint with good results

So you paint it first? All coats? Bake on high?
Yes! Paint all coats first and let it dry for a couple of hours ! Start with a lower temp and work your way up! Don't start on high! I do the first bake at 250, then 300, the 350. About 15 minutes (or one beer) baking time, then I let them cool in the BBQ and then start the next stage. The cooling between bakes is important! I have a fixture I use to keep it off the grates. This has worked very well for me!
Especially on a new motor, this is important. A new engine will run hotter as it seats the rings and breaks in.

! would add to sand it really well also before painting , I find paint adheres better if you remove the plating that is on those mufflers .
