Reposting an article that put into words very well the impressions I am left with after my daily browsing and rumination of several news paper.
Its 1937 - 2.0.
Time to find a horse and build a Bennett buggy.
No just kidding.
But I do have plan B and it involves a truck that burns wood gas.
Four years after Lehman: Are you better off? - The Globe and Mail
Looks like the CAW will strike the big three.
Never happened before.
I wonder will they scab?
Back to work legislation maybe?
Or will there be a sit in strike ( hey another reference to 1937 - 2.0 )
NHL strike looming.
Who cares.....
Striking miners in SA, 40,000 of them I hear choking off a lot of gold and platinuim production.
I'm suprised that the ANC would make black police men shoot other black men under a goverment of black men....
Just goes to show you the power of money I guess ( I suspect a bunch of rich white men have turn a lot of elected black men into cronies on the take, but any colour of man will do these days )
Occupy:
1 year later nothing has changed but we still talk about the 1% and now its understood by all.
A statistic I read in this article and a few others confirms my theory that the midle and poor are now 8% poorer than in 2008 and decline is not stopping.
But the good news is 95% of all the growth has ended up in the pocket of the top 1%.
200 million people world wide that used to live like you and me are on pogey, welfare or some sort of hand out.
Leads me to wonder when the next conservative politiicians will do something out of kindness to get all these unemployed men off the streets.
Something like labour camps.
Its funny in a way because before we knew the word Gulag, we made our own.
I see a parallel bewteen Occupy and the Trekkers of the 1930s.
At least the response this time around was better.
Very little busting of skulls gun play from the mounties.
But I think the difference is the Trekkers were going to hit Ontario and critical mass would mean the politicians had to get riud of them before a real revolution.
Seems to me I read something about former soldiers in the USA setting up a tent city and the police were sent in to evect them too because they were too close to the white house and too many for the politicians to be comfortable with.
Occupy it seems was just ignored until they froze them out.
Pity.....
The Paranoid files:
Don't laugh, I have a pile of paper on hard copy for reference how too just about all I need.
I started my paranoid files btw in 2006, completed them sometime before 2008 as I recall.
They sit there collecting dust, when I feel better about the state of the world I look at them and the layer of dust and mock them.....
And I shake my head at my own foolishness because the sky is not falling out there is it chicken little.
Of course some times I look at them and its not so funny.
Dam politicians better get get their heads out of their bums real soon and fix this mess because its just as dangerous as it was 4 years ago.
And if this does all fall apart like I suspect it might my paranoid files will not save me with the foolish dream of a homestead in the hills and and a patch vegies, burning farts to cook on and winding old micorwave oven magents into coils of wire bolted between hand carved wind turbine blade and a front strut off an old volvo....
Probably not enough wind alone for energy production may have to harness the methane digester too ( the great source of burning farts ).
Madness realy who would believe we can live without I pods and scavange instead the parts to build an aplidyne and MG set.
I might need some electricity foro the electrtic fence you know to keep they roving band of angery hybrid polar bears moving south because of global warming.....
Global warming BTW:
Its official....
The tipping point has been reached and the perma frost is melting.
Nothing can be done now so don't worry about carbon tax.
Expect Russian freightors crossing the pole to load up at Church Hill.
When former PM Paul Martin bough the port as part of his Canada shipping lines everyone laughed.
Who wants a forzen morth balled port you can only use a month or two a year?
Better question how was he so sure all those years back then it would thaw out enough to be a major shipping hub some day in the future for oil, gas, grains.
This has turned into more of a random thoughts about the storm cloud on the horizon thread.
OK:
Over to you Oldsalt.
Whatcha going to say that contradicts me this time.
Pass me them rose coloured glass while your at it, even your best written retort might be hard to buy.
