Interesting Remote Filter Set-Up

I got this remote air filter system off an old Roof chipper/vac. Engine was an HS50 with a 1” crank stub. Pretty cool!

Another view. One end attaches to the carb inlet, and the filter assembly attaches to the other. Maybe good for creek crossings, lol…

I just thought it is really interesting. There have been times when I wished for such a device. If I had one, I would be sure that I would never need it, if you know what I mean.
Like those desert-racing Beetles with the filter on the roof.

Yes, this was clamped up on the handle, but it had the stock filter housing attached.

Thanks for sharing that, Dad, it's an education. Only closest analogue I know of is the high mounted snorkel on my Odyssey FL250.

I'm sure the ribs (for her pleasure?) help atomize the fuel/air mixture but do you need 3' to do it?

I have a Flymo that has a similar setup, those are made to mow around ponds and are pretty close to the water.
I've used something along those lines on one of my Snorunners, using old vacuum cleaner hose to route the filter behind the seat. In the stock location up front the filter gets soaked with snow, then when the machine cools down they freeze .
