Manco sprocket/brake band configuration?

I recently purchased a Manco Mini bike that was obviously heavily influenced by Rube Goldberg. I am questioning if the sprocket and drum for the brake band originally came together on the same side of the rear wheel. When I took the bike apart the brake band had no anchor and consequently they used a hose clamp to anchor the cable to the frame. Since I haven't seen this configuration on any of the bikes in the forum, I need to know if Manco actually built their bikes this way?

I have never seen the drum on the same side as the sprocket. Here are a couple different models from the gallery and these don't show them being on the same side. I hope this helps.

No. That's just a generic drum.

Thanks for the help.... I'll put it together with the sprocket on one side and the drum on the other. I knew it just didn't look right.
