Mini biking in the winter.

#21
I always scan the classifieds for any of these tracked mini bike things but till i find one around me for an affordable price tag, I think ill be trying to stud my back tire and run a normal mini bike in the winter. I'm only 16 so my budget isn't too big.

snow not so much but last year we raced around on a frozen pond after putting studs in some spare tires we had. Probably not the safest idea but we are young and it was fun

Sounds like i should defiantly stud a set of tires or make some chains to ride on ice or packed snow/ice roads. But I probably wont be able to get around when theres more than a few inches of snow.

studs are for ice only. as soon as they hit anything besides ice they will lose their sharpness and will be ruined.sheet metal screws work for a little while but are not hardened like studs are.i've used kold kutters studs before.they work great.actually more traction than knobbies on dirt

That winter bike is insane, someday I'll have something like that. How many studs are people running in each tire?

What I did as a kid was take a bike chain or two side by side make them smaller than the tire let the air out of the tire put the chain or chains on fill the tire and you have "some" traction that you can remove easy....Im sure its not the best traction but as a 12 year old kid it worked well.
