Montgomery Wards 525 brake Question?

Here is a pic of a brake band bracket off a Montgomery wards 525. In the pin is a small hole, should there be a cotter pin in there to keep the pin from sliding out, I'm assuming so, what does yours have? Thanks

The brake band actuating lever goes on that pin. The brake band bolts to too the bottom of the bracket and hooks to the lever.

I follow you on the brake band, but if you look closely at the pin, you'll see a hole, I'm thinking there should be a cotter pin there to keep the pin from sliding out, once its installed to the frame of the bike, is that what yours has?

Yes that is for a cotter key.
