My first build

Picked up a clapped out old mini bike that someone poorly cut and stretched but never finished. Plans are to correctly stretch and lower it. Make it a fun street bike I can use for a pit bike at the drags.

got all the junk the previous owner had installed off and this is what i had to start with.

then i got to work cutting out the upper frame that was horribly patched.

when i cut out the old tube frame i installed new pieces with a steel inner slug of 13/16" solid steel. i plug welded the slug to the tubes on both sides then beveled both ends and butt welded them back together.

then i got the seat mount done and seat installed.

then i cut out the entire lower frame section and grafted in new rails.

then i started on the engine mount

then i started mocking up my jack shaft and brake setup

Just so you know what it was... It started out life as a Heald VT-3 or 5 or 7. And it would have had a Tecumseh engine.

Mine is a VT-812 so it is a bigger bike. I am not sure if yours would have the rib down the center of the front fender but it should have the rib on the rear fender as far as I know.

Here is a pic of one of Rick's Fiberglass rear fenders.. They are top notch..I just picked up a front one from him for this one.

yes i would be interested in glass fenders if they could be made to fit well.
