Degenerative disc disease. And if you have numbness and tingling in your arms, better get it checked.
Any recent injury? Even the slightest? Heavy cough? Rough sex? Fall off your bike?
Coughing make it worse? Does it come from around the back of your shoulders then into your triceps then down the arm? Or just your hands?
Most of the time, when my head is in the wrong position, I can feel it in my left Trap. That's when I know I need to adjust my head position. If I sit with my left arm on the arm rest and my elbow towards the back of the chair, then the left hand starts to tingle, readjust! Sleeping is the worst, anything but sleeping flat on my back with my chin in my chest, wake up with two very numb hands! Looking up is a REAL Bitch! This has happened, several times before, but has only lasted a week or so, man this time it's been three weeks! Probably my wrestling years catching up with me. Rough Sex......That's a good one, I been married 30 years! Nothing makes it worse than unconscious head position.

You may have a couple different issues. It would be unusual for just your hands. That sounds like carpal tunnel.
But the paim in the trap anr the positional magnification certainly sounds neck related.
MRI, EMG/NCV studies may be in your future.

The bilateral hand nubness usually is carpal tunnel. Unless it is spinal stenosis or a central disc herniation.
Just get it checked. No surgery unless you try epidural steroid injection.
Also, a medrol dose pack to start followed by Celebrex or something in the nsaid catgory. Unless you hsve contraindications.

Better, no pinch any more, just sore after the opp, get up some morning and feel like I was shagged by an elephant. The Physio excersizes are really helping - so taking it easy.

Thanks for enquiring - are you getting migranes with the neck pain?
Thats a killer.

Kaiser, have to see a family Physician first, then the Dr. makes appointment in the Department he feels necessary or the patient asks for.

Managed care delays treatment.
You need a referal to see a specialist???
So, lucky you, copays at your family doc who don't lnow crap, then he fiddlefks areound.
Then he tries to get ya in to a specialist, where you should be in the first place.
Then, go to specialist and he fiddlefks around getting a MRI ordered.
Then, another appointment to give you the results.
Thencanother referal for a epidural steroid injection.
Then the copays and deductables for your outpatient surgery fees.

Boy, sounds like fun. Ok, rant over.
You need cervical spije xrays.
Depending on what they show, you need a MRI.
In the meantime, they should try your on a medrol dose pack. Maybe some Flexeril or other type muscle relaxer.
Maybe followed by a nsaids such as Mobic, Celebrex, or Voltaren.
Then see what the MRI shows, will determine future treatment options.

Easy Sparky, we have good Doctors! If he feels I need an MRI or a Specialist ASAP, I will have one tomorrow. One injury, one copay. I have been dealing with this for over three weeks now, by my choice. And I have been putting up with my touchy neck for years. It's just not getting better this time. I'll be fine:thumbsup:
