Need help with big upgrade

#1
So I'm looking at making a big purchase for my 212cc predator. I currently have a air filter, exhaust and a drilled jet. I was looking at getting 18lb springs, retainers to go along with them, 140 e-tube, mod 2 cam, a .615 Honda carb. I will also be getting a flywheel. The governor will be removed as I need a little more rpm for the racing that I do. Does anyone have experience with any of these parts or a better suggestion for parts. I was also thinking I would need a new jet. Maybe a 92? Any help I would appreciate. Thanks

If your changing cams and your going to be spinning high RPMs you should think about going with 26# springs and also doing a billet connecting rod.

Heres what I've done to my predator
header
k&n filter
jets drilled #92
3x3 e-tube
10.8# trick springs
governor removed

currently spins 6000 RPMs and waiting on a delivery which includes the following and should allow me
to SAFLEY spin 7-8000 RPM

black mamba cam
26# springs
billet flywheel
billet rod
6 degree timing key

The "trick" springs pass tech check for the stock racing classes but I bought them because they offer more nose pressure then the 18# spring, which translates to more pressure at the stock lift, so less valve float. If your changing your cam I would go with 26# springs, 18# springs will give valve float around 5000rpm IIRC, 26# springs and stock cam might be risking flattening a lobe but aftermarket cam and 26# springs should work good.

Is the black mamba cam a direct bolt in? I'm not looking to rev to 10,000 rpm's. I'd be happy with 5,000-6,000

How many times will someone ask this question without using a search to fidn out what others have done or been told before?

Back in Hi school I my chum had an Astra with a small block in it.
Good little car but he was always breaking U joints and having trouble with everything after the trany.

Why?
He cheaped out and never put a decent driveline under the car matched to work together.

You my friend need to sit down and start from a clean sheet....
You first line should ask what do I need?
Write down the parameters of the engine.
How much power, what RPM ect.
Then figuere out your gearing.....

Then start to look for other engine builds that are simmilar to your needs and base your questions on that.

I know its not easy.
It requires you to do a lot of research but you will be much happier in the end when you build your engine because it will do what you need.

Or I could tell you how to build one of my engines and maybe it will fill your need....
Crap shoot...

Yes, Isky also does, as mentioned earlier, the black mamba jr. which is good for that RPM range.

Do a search for "black mamba" or "isky", theres lots of info out there.
