Please help I.D. these two bikes.

Anyone recognize these beasts or have any idea of what they once were?

This one belongs to someone I met recently. He pieced it back together to the point you see it at now. He has always been curious about the bikes history & would be very happy to learn anything more about it.

This is one that I dragged home a while back. I have removed the engine & the seat assembly including the shocks. It appears that whatever brakes it had once upon a time, were not quite up to the job.

I had thoughts of possibly replacing the front forks with the Suzi forks that BMI sells. I've also had thoughts of posting it up on Craigslist & seeing if someone else might be interested in giving it a new home.

Looking forward to any replies.

The top one looks like a Arco.

The second one looks like a Bird or Sears.. You can straighten the forks. I personally would never replace them. Is the frame 1"?????
