Pulse fitting on intake manifolds?

What's the purpose of a pulse fitting on the intake manifolds? I know that you would run a line between the crank case breath to that fitting, but what does this do?

I believe that's just for a pulse type fuel pump. It's more common to use crankcase pulse because you get a pulse at every revolution whereas the intake only pulses every other revolution. You don't connect that to your crankcase vent.

Thanks Motra and Rocco, I was just wondering about that.

I've been having trouble getting a 6.5hp honda carb to run on my 5hp Briggs, I thought maybe that was what the pulse was used for that's why I asked. I imagine there may be a leak on my manifold somewhere because it will run when you hold the throttle open, but will not idle for more then a second before shutting down.
