How do you identify if an engine is a raptor or not.

What are some things to be on the lookout for when checking out used engines at yard sales etc.

Thanks Bill:confused:

A raptor is a model 13 with extra braces around the valve box,
The raptor has a different connecting rod, stronger and doesnt have the two piece dipper/rod cap
The raptor also has a stronger, different shaped piston.
There was no governor hole on the raptor.
The carb was also different, it lacked a Choke,

All engines made after the RAPTOR 3 went into production (all briggs engines) blocks had the casting changes,

Ill look for the pictures,
Edit, Cant find the valve brace pictures =(

See if the motor is worn, if it runs, what it was ran on, and the cost!

OK on the one pictured you can tell, what I was wondering is how can you tell the better engines on say a yard sale tiller or blower.

I see referances to IC engines and raptors in various posts. The bearing blocks I can spot
by the 3 or 4 in the model numbers but how can you tell the other stuff?:confused:

As far as i know to find out if its a sleeved cylinder or has internal mods, ya gotta take the head off,

There may be a simpler way but i am not sure
