Scored a Montgomery Ward VT525!!!

Was surfing Craigslist this morning and saw this. 6hrs and 320 miles later, this came home with me. Looks to be mostly complete. It's missing the twist throttle and air cleaner. Has some high speed front forks. (If anyone has a press and would be willing to straighten them please pm me. I'll gladly pay you.) Gas tank is nice and clean. My plans are to clean it up and get it running. It's a little sweaty, but still a nice survivor.

If you guys find someone to recreate that decal after you scan it, please let us know. I'm sure there are other people here that would like one besides me.

Thanks

You don't need to "scan" either. Any JPEG can be transformed to vector by a competent individual using the correct software. My personal opinion is find someone local. I have not been satisfied with the work coming out of CA and our source in Canada is silent...

Just a little update. I had the forks straightened and got it running. The condenser wire had been rubbing on the inside of the flywheel and wore it in two. I fixed that cleaned the points and on the third pull she fired right up. Probably for the first time in 30 years. I also gave it a good bath. I still need to run a fuel line, clean the carb, attach a throttle and put an air cleaner on.

I just bought a VT525 in good condition. I'm missing rear fender, and clutch/chain cover. If anybody knows where I can find those parts... I also bought a Powell Challenger, and an unidentified mini bike that I'll eventually post pictures of so the community can help me figure out what it is.

Fenders and clutch cover for a Gilson based bike are tough pieces to find. Keep an eye out here and Ebay and you might get lucky...
