From a late 1963- early 1964 TACO. Black vinyl with heat sealed pleats on 5/8" spacing. Pleats are .100" wide. Tiny straight bumps are within width of pleat to simulate stitching and these are spaced a 20 bumps per inch. Two mounting holes spaced at 3 1/8" center line spacing are on the bottom and t-nuts are installed from the back side of the wood base and accept #10-24 machine screws. A third hole is at the very rear of the wood base centered on the large radius. This hole is just a pilot hole (no t-nut used) and a wood screw comes up through a clearance hole drilled through the rear top frame loop fastening the seat at this point. In or just before 1965 a second steel strap was welded to the top frame. This strap had a centered clearance hole and also now used a t-nut in the wood base and a thrid #10-24 machine screw improved this weak point for seat mounting.
IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE TO FIND SOME OF THIS HEAT SEALED BLACK VINYL IT WOULD BE A HELP TO ALL OF US RECOVERING SEATS. Submitted by Mike Cates, CA. (760) 473-6201
