Timing Suggestions

#1
So havent been on here in quite awhile, but ive got a home to put the clone on now so im tinkering again. I was wondering if anyone could help give me a place to start on my timing. I only have stock, 4 degree, and 8 degree keys, but could get others if necesary.
Build specs: Standard bore/stroke clone, billet flywheel, billet +10 rod, honda flat top, black mamba, billet lifters, crm pushrods, 1.3 to 1 rockers, 27mm/24mm stainless valves, 18cc head ported and milled 50 thou., homemade header, and junk honda streetbike carb.....in the market for a good deal on a used tilly:wink: Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you.

First thing get a timing light and figuere out what you are starting with....

Then I find lapping the flywheel and not using a key is easier.

I do use keys....
But I file them myself.
Then I check against the truth ( the timing light )

Thanks NOS.
Be sure to lap your flywheel.

Set your base timing and add a offset key of you desire.

I flip flop on keys.0
If I have something right and I have the right key I use it ( make my own .006 filed per deg if you decide to try )
I also build up the other side of key with lead solder to hold things for assembly.

Just buy some keys.
Trust me its easier.

I'm a precision freek.
thats why I am going bald andd crazy..
