vintage Sears mini bikes- what years were they made??

Ive been searching here for info on my chrome sears mini & found out it is a SR5 model. The tecumseh hs50 on it is from 1974 7 was wondering if the engine is original. What years did sears sell mini bikes back in the day?? mark

Not sure when they quit selling them, but if the engine is original, the model would start with 143. you would have to cross reference it to get the Tecumseh model #. If it has HS50 as the model # it or the shroud has been changed. The '71 models had gas tanks, so yours is probably earlier than '71.

HS50 did not come out until mid year 1972. I think??
I was just reading a Ruttman catalog printed in July '72 and they speak of the "new" HS50

The 1971 catalog has no mention of one. I'm referring to the parts section and replacement engines. Nothing specific to Ruttman.
