I have a gx200 on my mini bike. It was running fine for me and then it happened. My neighbor asked if he could ride it. My wonderful brother talked me into it.:mad2: I now have a loud knock when I hit the gas and don't know where it's coming from. It almost sounds like it needs oil. I've pulled the side cover to make sure nothing was bouncing around inside. I don't quite know where to go next. any help would be great.:confused1: Thanks

$50 get a rod but before you do that.... Pull the head off, undo the rod, pull the flywheel off, then pull out the crank. Check to see if you spun the bearing on the crank or if you damaged the piston wrist pin/piston. Then check for tolerances on the rod if thats where the damage occurred. If its in spec get a rod, of not look for a Honda crank. If your damage is at the wrist pin buy a rod, a wrist pin, and a flat top piston.

More than likely you spun the bearing and if you didn't run it to long your crank should be fine.

check to see if the flywheel is tight and not slopping on the crank, if that checks out the most common knocking problem is the rod on the crank
(rod knock) as Vette mentioned..

If you got it from HF hopefully you got the insurance and can exchange it for a new one..

Thanks guys I'm going to get into it today. I have a 6.5 clone motor came off a generator it's a ETQ. Looked it up it's some kind of Chinese motor. Don't know much about them. I have to change the shaft. You guys think the crank from my gx200 will work or I just have to buy a new one. The gx200 I'm going to tare down and build it for a spear.

Nothing worse than letting someone wreck your ride and you getting stuck with the repairs. Last time that happened (and I DO mean the last time), a friend had borrowed one of my bikes, and promptly plowed it into a tree because he was goofing around. First, I made sure he was all right - no broken bones or anything - and surveyed the damage to my bike. Then, while he was still laying on the ground holding his ribs, I reached down and pulled his wallet out of his rear pocket, took out the money it would cost to repair the bike back to the way it was, and tossed his wallet back down on the ground. I got cussed at pretty good - a good half of which I'd never even heard before - but he never asked to ride any of my bikes again ....

I have and I will put up with a ton of crap from some people, but when it comes to sticking me with the bill for something someone else screwed up, especially if it's something of mine that they screwed up .... that don't cut it with me.

When an honest person asks to ride another's machine he is accepting responsibility for the outcome. Anyone that thinks like the cusser is not yet an honest person and, true to form, naturally expect others to pay for their stupidity or lack of skill, bad judgement, and devil may care attitude. Certain minibikes I will not allow anyone to ride. On others, only a few are trusted. I kinda notice that there are a lot of folks that think they are toys and it is O.K. to tear them up. Children must have permission by a parent and the parent must be present and then only on a bike set-up for safe operation by a child. I got wise a long time ago.

I here everything you guys are saying. I don't let anyone drive my car because I know they don't have the money to fix it. I most of the time live by the rule if you can buy it you can ride it. But I got caught slipping my brother didn't help the situation ether. One thing for sure when I see him he is going to here it. I did not know until I was going for a ride on it later that day.
