Probably not unless your governor is disconnected [that could be dangerous if a flywheel blows]. That would be the only real reason a stock engine would need more air than supplied by the stock set-up. The engineers aren't stupid. If the engine is currently running on the lean side it will just get leaner. IMHO a stock engine will not benefit. OK let's hear from the guys that have gained 2 HP and 10 MPH by use of their 1/4" drillmotor on the garage floor.
