Wtf?

#1
can someone educate me as to wtf happened to this carb. what is that big hole on the bottome left?
It appears as if there is a passage that was milled into the carb and somehow broke open.
I filled it with carb cleaner and appears as if the passage is not functional and doesnt leak into the carb.
Can I block this passage off with jb weld for better sealing.
The carb works great it is just hard to seal.
Thanks

My 1978 Lausen Power Products manual shows this hole in all the illustrations in the "4-stroke, float feed ,adjustable" section, but does not point it out or say what it is. No illustration in any of the other carb sections shows this hole. I have some Tec manuals on a CD. I'll keep looking. I think you can JB Weld it and be fine.

Just looked at my other manuals. Same as the first one. I think there may have been a welch plug in the hole, but not a clue what it is for. Might be for some California use where crankcase was vented back into intake.
