I have a Montgomery Wards 424 (Gilson). I just got it and it has NO brake hardware at all and this is my first mini bike in 34 years. It has a 6" wheel with 3 holes instead of 4 for mounting brake hardware or a sprocket. I was going to run a band brake first to see if I like it ok. I just don't...
Briggs 5hp I/C dual ball bearing engine.......................parting it out. All sales of any part off this engine will be sent directly to Old timer. Complete motor have all parts available. two small pin holes in bottom of tank. everything else worked.
Who needs what and what are you...
I remember somebody telling me I need a special wazoo bearing to put a regular crank in a I/C engine, it has a splined output shaft for a torque multiplier. The crank I have is out of a modern non bearing black 5hp motor, it has the numbers 18 and 715 on it.
Thanks for looking.
OK, I think I know why my bike has been running weird. It is because the throttle is set up to bypass the governer :doah: Effectively, the throttle butterfly isn't free to move when it is running; it is more or less linked solid to the throttle with a stiff spring.
I want to run a governer...
OK, stupid question,
does anyone know how much airflow does the breather tube need? Will it hamper performance to use a longer, tube with a smaller diameter?
Im going to Northern Tool tomorrow to get a new sprocket for my mini. Problem is I dont know which sprocket I need, nor do I know anything about the tooth count.
So far I think I need a rear wheel sprocket, MAYBE a new clutch, and definitely a chain. This is the list just to get it moving...
i am puting a header, air cleaner,no governor,18lb valve springs, billet rod, flat top piston, billet flywheel on my clone . Do i need a high grade bolt kit and chromoly push rods like AGK has on there doodlebug clone?
I got the brake drum, cable, brake band and lever. What am I missing? This is for a mini with no brakes. It has the thing on the frame for a scrub brake but went another route.
Have a Whirlwind mini bike and it has no chain or clutch. The sprocket is on the back wheel and how can I tell what size chain and clutch I'll need? It's not stamped on the sprocket anywhere. Looks much bigger than a 35.
