I got a few questions will a 212 cam fit into a 196 clone?
Also will a 212 flywheel fit into a 196cc clone
I'm pretty sure the cam will fit

Generaly no, sometimes yes.

The Kohler 208 uses a different taper flywheel than 196 clone.
This shares the same taper as the Loncin 212 ( 210FA ).

Ya you need to research this very carefuly.

ARC makes the most common flywheels for these engines.

Most but not all...there is some thread pitch differences on some nuts/bolts you have to keep the rockers studs as match sets...depending on which clone you have the timing keys are different sizes. And the side cover oil plugs are different thread pitch...

You could end up with one that doesn't.
