6.5hp clone carb on Briggs 5hp FH?

#1
Anyone every put 6.5hp clone carb on Briggs 5hp FH?

Seems like would work well, just need manifold. These carbs are cheap ($15 new) and work well on clones. They are easy to rejet, so pretty sure could tune to run well with another engine.

Any comments welcomed.

I had one running on my 5hp Briggs, except it wouldn't idle. I had to keep giving it throttle. I tried jetting it differently but never got it dialed in before it got put to the side. I would like to try it again, like you said, they are cheap and easy to jet.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, you might have to re-jet, but it should certainly be attainable.

I crammed a 4hp tec intake & carby on my 2.5hp Briggs tonight just for shits & giggles. Works fine oddly enough (although it seems like it's a little hot)

Ya Tecumseh carbs work great, I'm running a 8hp Tec. carb on my 5hp Briggs FH, I actually like it better then the 24mm Mikuni clone I had on it.
