6hp, bore out to 8hp?

I have an oldish 6hpbriggs, I read somewhere on here that the 6hp block is the same as an 8hp block.

So potentially, I could bore out the 6 to fit a 8hp piston? The head bolt pattern the same?

Would It be worth it to do so? Or should I just get the 6hp running?
Right now the 6 doesnt have compression, I dont plan on tearing into it anytime soon(got other projects) but I would like to know.

The head is different. The 6hp only has 8 head bolts. The 7hp and 8hp have 9 bolt heads. 6hp has 2.75" bore, 7hp and 8hp have 3" bore. You may be able to do it, but the I would just fix the 6, and look for an 8hp.
