Im doing a 73 briggs 5hp for the build off an I got a question I know I need the 1" 5/16 bolt to hold clutch on engine only problem is my crankshaft isn't tapped with thread for a bolt can I just use the set screws on the max torque clutch to hold in place or do I got to get the crank drilled an tapped to use the 5/16 bolt an if so do I gotta dismantle engine I really dont have time to take motor all apart or the extra money need it for the rest of the build off any suggestions thanks..ut:

Simple answer...Yes, it's what I do.

You can drill and tap it for 5/16 fine thread. Just get it straight.

You can buy adapter sleeves from OldMiniBikes to drill out the end of your crankshaft . They have them for 5/8 3/4 shaft part number OMBCSG for $25.00 and 1 inch is part number R2345 . They work great .

Thanks guys for all the feeback I appreciate it I just drilled as n tapped it 5/16 like the rest of the motors.
