I'm not sure if this will work, but has anyone tried to make a fuel tank out of one of these? (Or a similar product for that matter)

I'm curious to know if anyone's tried this with any success, seeing as coming across one of those NOS cylindrical tanks is near impossible on such a tight budget.

have your parents sign up for one then. you're most likely to find a decent cylinder tank on there.

Yeah have your parents do it, and purchase a prepaid credit card. Setup your paypal account and go for it. I have seen a few of those tanks at the swap meet yesterday. But I was thinking they was to small for me.

I'm sure I've seen aluminum bottles like that with aluminum caps and an o-ring on top in stores around my neighborhood. I'm just curious if the thing has an insulating layer or if it's just a single sheet of aluminum.

Its a single wall of alluminum and they are made to hold white gas for camping. The caps are probably gas resistant.

I pick up all kinds of bottles similar , the old ones have aluminum caps. Easy enough to drill and put a petcock in the bottom with sealed fitting.
