anywhere to buy a scrub brake setup?

anybody seen a scrub brake setup for sale? I cant find one on ebay or any of the shops i've found via google.

i see disk & drum brake setups, but i need to go as cheap as possible here.

another question: how much do i have to worry about a band brake fitting on my bike? are they pretty universal?

Do you weld?

Most scrubs are made of bar stock and a square piece of steel (and sometimes aluminum)

You need some room in/on the hub or space on the rear wheel for brakes but you could also put a caliper on the sprocket (need to weld a bracket)

You could put a band brake on the clutch but if the rear chain breaks. :doah:

Take a lot of looks at pics to see all the styles and ways of doing it.

The scrub brake would need to be custom made for each model frame thats why you don't see them for sale.

Band brakes on rear wheels, or calipar brake on a sprocket just about the best 2 set-ups, and can usually be installed for under $50.00, a scrub don't work when it gets damp or wet, and the band around the clutch also gets so hot that sometimes the heat will break the bonding agent, that holds the brake padding to the band, a jackshaft brake can also be installed but then again if the chain breaks, you have NO brakes!!!
