Finally got around to replacing the band brake on the Yerf Dog kart
Took off the wheel and found years of accumulated mess all over the brake and axle, stack of shop rags and 1/2 can of brake cleaner later I finally take off the old band brake and get the new one on. Adjusted everything then took it for a ride around the yard to test it out.
2nd time I hit the brake and I hear a crack and the brake pedal goes loose, brand new band brake cracked right after the loop on the end
To say the least it pissed me off. Ended up reversing the OEM one (still had a little pad left on one side) and reinstalled it until I can pick up another one.
