band brake install

i saw a mini on cl today with a band brake installed on the clutch. is this common practice? acceptable?:shrug:

Yep,band brakes are common. And pretty good stoppers.
Only downside is,chain comes off no brakes.

They work great. Mine locks the back wheel up....Stops ya dead:thumbsup::laugh::laugh:

put one on a bandit and it stops better then a scrub break for sure.. just like others say though.. make sure your chain is aligned dead on so you have less chance of it popping off and having to use your flinstones brakes:thumbsup:.
