I went to Hobo Freight, bought a portable 18 oz blaster and 50 pounds of crushed walnut shells.
I need to clean and paint some engines. That might be worth a shot on your frame. Wear a respirator, you don't need to collect the shells if you don't want to.

I agree a 4 cycle would be more reliable.

My concern is that the motor mount is slanted toward the front.

Whereas the 4 cycle frame appears to be flat where the motor mounts.
Can the jackshaft and wheel be flipped over, putting chain on left, belt on right? If not, you are stuck with using a clockwise engine.
Here's a thought: go electric. Mount everything and disguise it with an old cooling shroud?
