Can I put a clutch on backwards?

If I put a centrifugal clutch on backwards, as in with the sprocket facing in towards the motor instead of out, will it still work the same? I assume it would but honestly I have no clue. Thanks fellas.

Hell nah that shit did not work bro do not put your clutch on backwards
Centrifugal clutches don't care if they're mounted inboard or outboard, they work the same either way.

If you're running something like a Bully disc clutch, then they must be mounted outboard. Your standard clutch, it doesn't matter.

Good job saying something definitely doesn't work when it's because you couldn't figure out how to make it work. You probably leave 1 star reviews on Amazon because you bought the wrong thing.

Put your clutch on the crankshaft (inboard or outboard), then place the washers on the 5/16 bolt. Torque the retaining bolt and make sure the clutch still slides freely. Position the clutch halfway between the crankshaft step and your 1 1/8" flat washer. From “ How to install a centrifugal clutch”
