Chain alignment procedure?

#1
Since going from 41 to 35 chain on my TAV, I am having chain issues. I switched to try to incorporate a brake into the drum. I finally got the brake sorted out and as soon as i give it any gas under load the chain falls off.

At first I thought the governor being maladjusted was the cause. It was allowing the RPMs to stay high enough and engage the belt on TAV. I adjusted the gov and got the idle back down. Took it for a spin and same thing. Could the chain be bending from being thrown? I have eyeballed this some many times.

Also how tight is chain supposed to be? I thought I had it tight enough. But I put the chain back on and it isnt as tight as before.

THanks in advance.

A out a 1/2" up and down play is about right.
Old chain?
Frame flexing under all that torque?

Take a straight edge and run it from sprocket to sprocket.
That's how I do it.

Old chain? New CHain

Frame flexing under all that torque? IDK, I dont think so as it is a Trail Blazer and pretty stout.

Take a straight edge and run it from sprocket to sprocket. Ill try that...
