Clutch performance Mods.

Any one have mods to make a standard mini bike clutch grab harder or faster? I have been told that you can cut the shoes in half and it will improve bite. Any one try this or have better solutions?

I have not herd of FREE mods,but I was wondering the same thing,then I came across The primer stinger clutch, I found them as low as $110 and as High as $126. The clutch is great,it will hold up to 25hp.You can ajust the stall from the stock setting of 3200 to 5500 rpm.This is the best clutch set up before you have to get one were you can only race with it.:thumbsup:I wish now I would have just paid the money for it and be done,instead of just paying $40 bucks for a comet and after a few mods,it will not want to hold for very much longer.:sadcrying4: Just my 2 cents.

You can take the spring out and take a couple of coils off the spring then put it back in that will give you more stall. You can also grind lines on the shoes surface to make it grab harder.

You beat me to it I've thought about cutting XXXX patterns with a bandsaw to get a better hold:thumbsup:

I've thought about that, but I figured the decreased surface area might have and opposite effect on it.

I've also thought of making the shoes out of high grade brass(aluminum is to light) or a very soft beryllium copper.....you guys know the routine, the softer the metal is the better it grabs.

I believe most or maybe I read this wrong but the question is grab HARDER/FASTER. I would say DECREASE the spring tension-that will allow it to grab faster and possibly actually harder seeing as how you have helped to overcome the centrifical force needed to wing the shoes out. I have found that be just sandblasting or glass beading all of the smooth friction surfaces it will help to "bite" until everything wears smooth again.

the comet la350 clutch is adjustable rec. leisure had them for like 85 bucks worked good a a pretty modded clone the noram is almost the same they used to be like 55 at turk bros

that will allow it to grab faster at a lower rpm. As an alternative sandpaper works well.
