converting points to electronic

I got an older 5hp Briggs. So I picked up a "new style coil *magnetron* with an aluminum flywheel, I will no longer be running points ignition, my question is; the keyway don't line up in the same place....is this due to the difference in the ignition set-ups, or is my motor so old they have since changed the key location on the crankshaft?

the flywheel is probably off a newer mower engine and it won't work..if your flywheel is good just use it...

X-2 ...better use your oem flywheel.

My original is stock (heavy) and has a broken fin, I'd like to use the aluminum flywheel of possible.

If you line the magnets up on both of them, and the key way is in a different spot,.. the timing will be off.

I'll just cut a new keyway in the aluminum flywheel then.

I have a stock 5hp steel one you can have, just pay shipping.... I also have a new 3hp alum flywheel with the correct keyway location I'd let go cheap..
