Funpower 5hp Fit

Hello,

Well, I finally found a really nice 5hp Funpower motor for my minibike project.

When I got it home I discovered that there is not enough space to fit the engine with the stock air filter and muffler setup!

Are there any aftermarket (no need for Hi-performance.. just shooting to get this thing running) parts which would fit in a tight space?

The muffler could be a straight shot out the back, but not sure how I would find a new flange to fit...

The air filter is too tall by about 1/4 inch...

Any suggestions would be great!

Welcome to the site! The muffler will come off and a standard 5hp muffler will fit, or get a header. The air cleaner is likely the rectangular plastic top with a steel base, it could be cut around the edge to leave only a ring. That or get some steel or aluminum and make a ring to hold the pleated paper filter. Should give you the clearance you need. I have a similar engine but not with the F/P muffler. They are bulky!:thumbsup:

I will trim the filter cover up... You have it exactly right!

On the muffler, I can use a standard muffler? The reason I am asking is that this one bolted on to the engine and I thought I would need to find another with the same flange.
