there is always supposed to be what is known as end play ... you can not gauge it with the side cover off ... and his vibration is more than likely caused by bad valve train geometry than anything else ... but adding studs to a built motor is always a good idea .. and enriched is up on the mikuni .. not down

There was just as much play with the valve cover on. I have tested it with the valve cover on. I just didn't shoot the video that way. If I had shot it with the valve cover on people, would not have seen how dramatic the movement was. My mud motor buddies have used the same shims to knock out the vibration in their motors. you never know what is causing something until you test it, isolating one thing at a time.

I'm running the cheap Mikuni clone. I push down on the switch that pulls the enricher up, thus enrichening the mixture. Pulling up on it the lever pushes the enrichener down, closing it off. That's how mine works, not sure about the true Mikunis or other clones of it. I mean I've pulled the plug and can see that it's enrichening when pressed down.

So how much end play is supposed to be there? Is there a way to tell? What is considered a good amount of end play? What is considered bad?

oh ... these are your videos ?? dont take my responce the wrong way .. not saying you are wrong by shiming the end play especially on a predator but you dont want it dead tight either or like 125cc said you will wear parts much faster !! and try a little bit of gasket sealer or rtv on your intake gasket it will solve that problem
