Going to do a ring job on my Tec

My engine needs a piston ring job bad. the bore is full of nasty stuff and the engine just wont run rite. When i have it full throttle it keeps slowly dying out and im going through spark plugs like crazy. So before is start i would like to hear if you guys have any easy wasy to change the rings or just imput on the engine.

I haven't rebuilt a tec motor lately but $80 should be more the enough money for a major overhaul as long as your piston and valves and crankshaft is all good. Here is an example.

the bore is full of nasty stuff and the engine just wont run rite.

If the cylinder is bad it should bored to the next oversize. Rings alone won't fix it if the cylinder is bad.

If your cylinder is worn badly take it to a machine shop that does small engines and see if you will need to bore .10 over or .20 over before buying parts and needing the next step up in a rebuild kit.
