Help! Briggs 5hp crank bolt size

Hello OldMiniBikes forum! I need help finding the right size end bolt for the crankshaft of a 5hp flathead Briggs. So far I have tried:
5/16-16
5/16-18
5/16-24
None of them has even tried to thread in. Please help

If 5/16" - 24 doesn't work, you might have a 5/8" PTO and will use a 1/4"-20 bolt.

Idk, the crankshaft is 3/4" and I have 3 other 5hp Briggs engines that they won't thread into either

Any chance the crank has been tapped with lefthand threads?

You know, when i go to the hardware store I triple check the nuts & bolts because the bins get messy sometimes.

What I hate are those metric bolts with there 1.25 1.5 & 1.75 thread sizes. Makes it real easy to make a mistake and damage some threads. :doah:
