I need better brakes!!!

I have a central cycle supply charger. The brakes are horrible, border line useless. They are basically a leather band around a drum.

Is there a cheap and easy retrofit available that will actually stop this beast?

sounds like a band brake.... when you apply the brakes are the ends coming together? possibly the band is bigger than the drum? or it's pulling from the wrong direction and is actually trying to unwind when applied?

A band brake is one of the best stopping brakes out there. Post a picture of yours in case there is something set up wrong.

Looks like there is no pad left. Just metal on metal. :shrug:

That's your problem, you just need a new band :thumbsup: As I said in the other thread their not much money to replace.

Yes, I think they only make a couple different sizes and OldMiniBikes warehouse sells them. You can clink on the link at the top of this page.

Ok. I will get one ordered. Mine isn't metal to metal. But after looking at the new ones I can see it is pretty worn.
