very cool indded.........v4 German Ford? Based on the name of the machine and its engine type im assuming this isnt a an american manufactured machine? Cool stuff. I love machines like this that we all just dont see everyday. How big is it compared to say an escort 2 door? Steering?
They where US made, it kind of like a go cart or minibike in the sense the body was made by thoikol, and then what ever was availale at the time was drive train wise was used. The German ford was used in Saab sonnets, but mostly industrial tractors, generators ect its weird seeing Ford on the valve cover and a Bosch electrical, and a solex carb. The size is about the size of a small jeep.. skid steer, two seater.. with utility back... check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiokol:scooter:

my snowmobile is a 1987 ski doo formula mx that i swapped an sc10 rear suspention into (gray sled). and my dads snowmobile is a 1987 polaris indy 340 sport (blue sled). iv put a great deal of my time and mony into both. they are 25 years old naw, so i just picked up antique plates for both. no more regestration ever!!!. these plates are good for as long as i own the sleds.
i still nead to to work on and get a few parts for both. iv taken on the responsibility for maintaning and reparing both sleds. mostly becouse my dad wooldn't do anything to fix or repair his if i didn't. hes willing to pay for the parts if i do the work.
on the mx i nead to replace the abused trailing arms, replace a broken motor mount and fix a crack in the hood as well as find a way to raze the nose a bit to match the rear.
on the indy i nead to re cover the seat, as well as fix or replace the cracked up hood and wind shild.
the mx is stated to hit around 90 mph top speed. iv only had it up to 80mph .i ran out of room, there arn't to many smooth spots where i ride. the 340 can only get up to around maby 70mph.

paul.....i thought the hunt for parts was 1/2 the fun? LOL I know how hard it can be to find parts for some of these old girls. It aint easy sometimes! Just think there is an end at the tunnel and sooner then later youll be sitting back with a cold one filling the garage with 2 stroke smoke from a sled that looks it sitting on the show room floor. Cool sleds.

I love it, it has a Yamaha 396 and those things run forever, it starts and drives really good, I just want to add a primer to make it easier to start in the really cold, and it needs a new track. I just picked up a good replacement hood for it, it's from a 290 GT but it won't matter, it actually looks better then the apache hood on it.
