Looking for briggs tip....

Guys forgive me if this has been asked too many times....I searched the site and could not find the answer.

Does anyone know if it is possible to determine the horsepower of a briggs engine if I do not have the codes.I have multiple engines and multiple housings on them that do not match. I thought I have heard of measuring the piston and its stroke to find this, but really I have no clue.

Vinny, I believe it's, a mathmatical equation, something about finding the volume of a cylinder, will give you an answer in cc's, then cross referance to convert cc's to horsepower, I have no idea what the formula for finding the volume is, but you have a start here, you could take a measure of piston size and stroke and ask your favorite lawnmower shop.
