Modifying the ADC spring tension

#1
When eliminating the governor completely and siliconing the hole closed, don't forget that over revving will stretch the spring on the automatic decompression mechanism mounted on the cam. All of a sudden you won't be able to start your engine. Too much compression. You need to replace the spring with one with more tension. It's a trial and error procedure which I have engaged in. I found the right strength spring that does the job.
Once you are in the motor removing the rev limiter, it's easy to pull the camshaft and apply this fix before it renders you impossible to start.
Considering the governor shaft is a poor point of wear for these flathead engines, eliminating it all together is not a bad idea.
