Montgomery Wards 525 Serial numbers

Adding some numbers to the discussion....maybe someone will someday
see a pattern. I do not know for certain if the H50 is the original engine on my
mini.

I just noticed something about that plate above^^^ Note the first three digits 17X are printed rather than stamped as in [MENTION=55208]danford1[/MENTION]'s plate. The one serial plate I have is all stamped. I suspect [MENTION=28898]hammeron[/MENTION]'s bike is a later year model. And a nice survivor, too!

but his engine is a 1970 model, and original to the bike

This 525 is later than 1970. 989As were not produced in 1970. Production of 1971 could have easily included leftover stock of 1970 Tecumsehs.
