Depends on how it was kept. If boxed should be good. Get pictures and some members can date it for sure. Your right on the stock being a 3.5 tec but hs40 is the same size and will look good in the speedway.

Missed out on a great one on Ebay - $550 NOS HS40. But I agree HS40 is way to go if only because it's gonna take a lot of horses to pull me at my weight - not saying, but I weigh more than I did in 1971.
Keep a eye out for the HS50. Same size but 1 more horse! Plus for 550$ you might be able to "bribe" some of the more skilled tecumseh artist ta whip ya up something nice!
