just bought this engine for my drift trike so its stock any suggestion on up grades? 300-500 budget. i would want it torquey. not familiar with the whole rebuild. this will be my first build. i would want to take the governor out. so i need to know what parts i need so i wont blow the motor. I was thinking a cam, springs, flywheel, rod, intake filter, exhaust, and jet the carb .Do you know what's a good set up with part number with a budget of 300 to 500? Sorry I don't really know which way to go with all the option they have for each item. I don't know what will work the best with each other to get the best combo. also I don't know if I would need a pulse fuel pump? or at what degree my timing should be to get the best performance with all the upgraded parts? also I need help hooking up the throttle? do I need extra parts for that? thanks and hope to hear from you guys

$500 will almost by a prepared race engine.

I'll be watching replies, I also want to build a midrange monster(actually a pair) for my Kinroad buggy frame, to replace that GY6.

if you plan on using the hemi head make sure you dont go more than 275 lift . they dont like it with out work . check how far in the hole you are too before you order a rod +20 is usually a safe bet but i would check .

Just curious why build an engine for a drift trike ? The Hemi's are really great out the box and with PVC wheels all that power can't transfer to the road anyways ? I'd put a header for nice sound and better flow , intake system and re-jet and that thing will do great , just my 2 cents . It's fun to build em though !

I want to spin the wheels with out the pvc I would want it to drift that's why I'm looking for torque

What kind of wheels and tires are you planning on using ?? Getting even one tire to spin would require big hp let alone 2 . and a real good clutch with a high stall !! A tav would just make it a rocket and limit you in the higher rpm's

OldMiniBikes Warehouse has a kit, including flywheel for under $500... look into that kit...

$400.95 with the added flywheel

as far as you getting that engine to be aggressive enough to slide your trike around under power, probably not going to happen, unless you go extremely aggressive with your build... and extremely aggressive with your gearing, etc... i have a nicely built big bore hemi, with gas ported piston, custom this and custom that... its 256cc and fully built... it MAY be able to do what you are looking to do (especially around a corner and with the right setup, as far as a trike), no where near the same budget range.

anyhow... if you want to actually have something that will drift around with the twist of the throttle... build a vtwin... i have a custom trike project with a turbo vtwin... it may be able to do what you are looking to do... you will more than likely need more displacement... it also depends on your weight, the weight of your project, how your trike is built, etc... but build your engine and give it a shot...
